🧩 Project Overview

To improve creator retention and daily content creation on ShareChat, we introduced a gamified reward system. By recognizing creator milestones—like post streaks, view counts, and follower growth—we designed an experience that’s fun, rewarding, and encourages consistency.

🎯 Problem Statement

Despite high app downloads, creator retention and repeat engagement were low. We needed a system that would motivate creators to return daily, increase content output, and feel valued on the platform.

💡 Solution Strategy

During a product offsite, our team brainstormed a new approach: reward-based gamification. We explored badges, streaks, view-based rewards, and feature unlocks. Key ideas that shaped the product:

  • 🎁 Trophies & Milestone Rewards

  • 🔁 Posting Streaks (2, 3, 5, 13+ weeks)

  • 📊 Milestone tracking for views, shares & followers

  • 🏆 Creator Levels & Badges (Purple, Golden)

  • 🎯 Task-based Onboarding (Create 3 posts, post 5 days in a row, etc.)

🧪 Execution & Design

  • Initial Wireframes and design explorations focused on clarity and excitement

  • Used celebratory screens, confetti, and boost cards to emotionally reinforce success

  • Built modular UI components to adapt across campaigns (e.g., ShareChat Cricket Carnival)

Variant V1:

  • Creators: 1.46 million

  • Posts Created: 6.6 million

🚀 Phase 2 Expansion

We expanded gamification into seasonal campaigns like the ShareChat Cricket Carnival, adding themed tasks, a leaderboard, and ₹1,00,000 worth of rewards. Creators competed in T20-tagged content with weekly visibility into their rank and progress.

  • 15x increase in 2-week streak completions

  • New creators onboarding via clear task flows
